Stupid Comment Spam

Over the weekend, I had over 1300 comments submitted and none were legitimate. I had some server-side code that was supposed to stop this, but it apparently doesn't work. As a result, you have to be registered again to comment. This is only temporary as I'm working on a fix. As soon as it's ready, [...]

Site Updates

Yes, I'm aware there is a layout problem with the site. I was out of town on business and I'm back today. I'll be updating the CSS with some fixes. This is what I get for not properly testing my last updates. I'm slowly working on my site's PostNuke theme, but my real-life day job [...]

Doh!

I just discovered a major mistake on my site. It seemed that when I did my PostNuke upgrade, my permissions didn't translate well. Logged in users suddenly had no access to the site. Being an admin on my own site, I didn't see it. Sorry. You can go back to reading the site now.

A Change Would Do Me Good

I finished my PostNuke upgrade last night. It was not as painful as I thought it would be. The downside is that I lost some functionality as a result of the upgrade. I have some older modules to hack to make them work. Stay tuned as I get it all going again. When I'm done [...]

Review: Texans on Ice

As I was driving to work this morning, the first winter weather hit Texas. I was thinking of how I really don't miss winters in Chicago, though. This will last a couple of days and we all move on. The downside is that Texas gets ice instead of snow and they don't have the sophisticated [...]

Housekeeping

Well, my stats are going through the roof. That's very cool. I would like to point out to visitors that comments are welcome, but you have to register first. This prevents me from getting excessive comment spam, which is problematic. Yes, this is a PostNuke site. I like PostNuke for the most part. Now there [...]

Multisourcing

Okay, open up your business jargon notebooks. The newest book-selling-buzzword is "multisourcing," which is the name of the new book by Gartner Analyst Linda Cohen. Cohen addressed Symposium ITxpo with a command to stop outsourcing immediately. Gartner analyst Linda Cohen started off her presentation at Symposium ITxpo with a command for the audience of 6,000 [...]

Katrina Donations

Those who know me know I'm not a hard core religious person. However, I do attend a local church because of my children and I enjoy the people there. I added a donation link to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) because they have 0% administration costs and I've seen first hand the incredible [...]

Busy Bodies

After the week I had last week, I feel like I'm a tornado survivor. I will be playing catch-up all this week. I try to explain to customers and friends that I'm hectically busy these days. They like to ask me "was last week a good busy?" I suppose they mean, "was it financially lucrative?" [...]

Project Greenlight

I'm so hooked on Project Greenlight. I love movies and I'm the kind of person that actually listens to director commentaries and watches all of the DVD special features. Project Greenlight is like DVD featurettes on steroids. I'm particularly fascinated with the process by which movies are made. The line producer is the movie's project [...]
