Michelle Malkin has a summary of last night's arrest of two "middle eastern" men and their explosives discovered during a traffic stop for speeding: Saturday night bomb scare.
It appears the bomb squad detonated the explosives around 2:45 eastern time: Item Detonated After S.C. Traffic Stop.
Authorities are holding two men after finding a suspicious item in a car stopped for speeding on a South Carolina highway.
Lt. Vince Lombard of the Berkeley County sheriff's department said the men face a charge of unlawful possession of an explosive device.
He didn't say what the device was or what it was that a bomb squad blew up early Sunday morning, nearly eight hours after the traffic stop closed a stretch of highway north of Charleston, S.C. The FBI had reported what was found was "no immediate threat."
The bomb squad detonation made a loud bang, similar to a firecracker.
The car was stopped as it headed away from Goose Creek, where the Naval Weapons Station is located. It has a military prison where enemy combatants have been held.
They are "no immediate threat" because they are in custody. They were pulled over for speeding, which is stupid on their part unless this is another one of those test-the-system incidents.
