Oh joyous day. Words cannot express how I feel when I visit the speed tests at Broadbandreports.com to test out my new fiber Internet service from Verizon. I'm not shilling for them nor do I get anything if you sign up. I just got extremely excited when I dumped my cable modem service for something that doesn't go offline every two hours or with performance seemingly tied to the weather.
I currently have the 5Mbps/2Mbps service which works well for my purposes. I do see myself upgrading to the 15Mbps/2Mbps service just out of pure greed. It's all perspective, really. I used to think my cable's 1Mbps was fast. I probably would have stayed with it too, if the reliability wasn't so spotty. The other thing I hate about cable service is that they outsource customer service to the Internet provider whose idea of service is to reboot my computer as a solution to their line problems.
So far Verizon has been great on the support side. They don't make me reboot my computer and they actually test their own lines before accusing me of incompetence. I've only called twice and each time was related to some installation issues that are understandable since this is still a new program for them. For the first time ever, I have better Internet service at home than at the office.
